The history of the school

Picture
The school was originally founded by Betty Jarvis in 1959, who sadly passed away just months before the school's 50th anniversary.  Today the school is run by Betty's daughter Maria Barnes with the help of a small team of assistants.

The school has faced many challenges throughout the years, including a change of halls however it is still going strong!

Dance styles

Picture
The original focus was on Ballroom and Latin American, and although we still keep up a high standard of teaching in these areas, we have also expanded the styles taught to include Rock & Roll, Country & Western as well as some freestyle dances.

We encourage the students to work hard throughout the school year ending with an exam every July in which the children are awarded trophies and plaques by the International Dance Teacher's Association (IDTA).
